London-born Rutherford has been a full-time car and motor industry writer/broadcaster since 1982.
For more than two decades he was the Motoring Editor on three of Britain's biggest-selling national newspapers, plus one London paper. Also, he served time as a weekly columnist, news reporter or feature writer on several other nationals, including The Daily Telegraph, The Independent, The Times and The Sunday Times.
He's driven thousands of test cars in scores of countries on every continent, presented over 1,000 national/international radio programmes, as well as hosting several car shows on ITV and other TV channels in the UK.
Mike Rutherford's greatest claims to fame are that he is one of the founding fathers of Auto Express (still Britain's biggest-selling weekly car mag) which he helped establish and launch in 1988; he's interviewed five British Prime Ministers; and he's one of the few journalists in the world to have driven a Formula One car.
From 2012 - 2020 he served as World Car Awards Director, Vice-Chairman, Co-Chairman and Chairman. In 2021 he was appointed WCA's Chairman Emeritus for life...whatever that means!
But more important than all of the above is that Mike proudly serves as a Trustee for the London-based Marcus Rutherford Foundation/Young Adult Cancer Trust.
