LERATO MATEBESE		Publishing Editor: Top Gear Magazine and Mail & Guardian Lerato Matebese is an award-winning motoring journalist who entered the motor industry at the beginning of 2006 as the then SAGMJ (South African Motoring Journalists) bursar student and, in the process, contributed to a vast number of motoring titles, comprising both magazines and newspapers. Since January 2007 he has been a senior motoring writer for Business Day's weekly motoring supplement, Motor News, which is a position he has held for just over 11 years until August 2018. He has been a South African Car of the Year Jury member for 10 years having served as an assistant for two years before that. He joined Driven Magazine as editor in September 2018 with a wealth of experience in the automotive media industry and has been a juror for the Cars.co.za awards for 2019, 2020, and 2023. He is currently the Publishing Editor of Top Gear magazine in South Africa.
