BRENWIN NAIDU		Section Editor: Sunday Times Lifestyle Motoring and Sowetan Motoring Brenwin Naidu (29) began his journalistic career in 2011, as a cadet reporter at Caxton Community Newspapers in Johannesburg. In 2013 he forayed into automotive writing, joining the Surf4Group with its two electronic media titles, Motormag and Surf4Cars. Naidu was approached in 2014 for online editorship of the IgnitionLIVE website, the sister platform of the IGNITION TV channel, which has since been absorbed into the TimesLIVE portal. In 2015, aged 22, he was appointed editor of the Sunday Times Motoring supplement, which had then been newly launched, now currently published in the last week of each month as part of the Sunday Times Lifestyle pull-out. It remains the newspaper with the highest circulation in South Africa. The following year, his scope grew to include editorship of the IgnitionLIVE print supplement, inserted into The Times newspaper, as well as the Sowetan Motoring supplement. The former title is no longer printed, since The Times became a digital-only platform, while Sowetan Motoring is published every Wednesday. In addition, Naidu served as a regular contributor to the IGNITION GT motoring show on DStv channel 189 between 2014 and 2020. Sunday Times, Sowetan, TimesLIVE and IGNITION are owned by Arena Holdings, an entity of Lebashe Investments. In 2017 Naidu was the recipient of the Bridgestone Steve Dlamini Award for Excellence in Motoring Journalism, an accolade reserved for promising automotive journalists aged 25 and under. In 2021 he was named among the 200 Top Young South Africans, an annual list compiled by Mail & Guardian. He holds a BA Honours degree in Media Studies from the University of Witwatersrand.
