Mr. Wang Chuanfu was born in February 1966 in China and is currently the Chairman and President of BYD Co., Ltd., a senior engineer. Wang Chuanfu earned a bachelor's degree in metallurgical physical chemistry from Central South University of Technology in 1987 and a Master of Engineering from Beijing Nonferrous Metals Research Institute. He has served as engineer and deputy director of the Beijing General Research Institute of Nonferrous Metals and general manager of Shenzhen Beagle Battery Co., Ltd. In 1995, he founded Shenzhen BYD Industrial Co., Ltd.
Since the establishment of BYD, Wang Chuanfu has adhered to a “technologybased, innovation-oriented” concept, and has, by developing and relying on the company’s robust R&D strength and innovation capabilities, proved his commitment to building BYD into an internationally competitive enterprise. Over the past 28 years, by adhering to these principles of technological innovation and unrelenting diligent work, BYD has grown into a global enterprise spanning the four major industries of automobiles, rail transit, new energy, and electronics. So far, BYD has applied for more than 38,000 patents, of which more than 26,000 have been authorized internationally. BYD pioneers zero-emission new energy solutions and operate new energy vehicles in more than 400 cities in more than 70 countries and regions on six continents. In August 2022, BYD ranked 436th on the Fortune Global 500 list, demonstrating its outstanding achievements in the market and contributions to society. As BYD’s founder, Wang Chuanfu has committed to technological innovations, leading BYD to become a leader in new energy vehicles, and has been accorded many honors. He is a founding member of the "Sustainable Development Advisory Committee" of the United Nations Development Program. Additionally, for BYD's global response to the climate, energy crisis, and sustainable future, he was awarded the “Zayed Future Energy Prize’s lifetime achievement award in 2014. In recent years, Mr. Wang was identified as one of Bloomberg’s “The Green 30 for 2020” and named by Fortune in 2020 as one of the 25 greatest leaders and most influential people during the pandemic. In 2022, Forbes China ranked him as China’s Best CEO on their annual Top 50 CEOs list. |
